Frequently Asked Questions

Materials & Metals

What metals do you use? Jude's jewelry is made in solid gold and sterling silver, metals chosen for their quality, longevity, and natural beauty. We don't work with plated metals or alloys.

Why do prices change? Gold and silver are globally traded materials whose value naturally fluctuates. We adjust our prices periodically to reflect these changes, ensuring fair value for both our collectors and our makers.

Care & Cleaning

How do I care for my Jude piece? Store your jewelry in a soft pouch or box away from direct sunlight and moisture. Clean gently with a soft cloth. For sterling silver, occasional polishing will restore its natural shine. Avoid contact with perfume, lotions, and chlorine.

Will my sterling silver tarnish? Sterling silver naturally oxidizes over time, and we see this as part of its character. A gentle polish with a silver cloth brings it right back.

One of a Kind

What does "one of a kind" mean? Many of Jude's pieces are made in single quantities. Once they're gone, they're gone. These pieces are marked on the site and reflect the intuitive, unplanned nature of Judy's design process.

Can I commission a similar piece if one sells out? Judy works with a small number of clients on bespoke pieces each season. Reach out directly to start a conversation. While no two pieces are ever identical, she may be able to create something in a similar spirit.

Ordering & Shipping

Where do you ship? We ship across Canada and internationally. Shipping rates and timelines are calculated at checkout.

How are pieces packaged? Every Jude piece arrives gift-ready in thoughtful packaging, made to protect and present your jewelry beautifully.

Can I return or exchange a piece? Because many pieces are one of a kind and made with care, we handle returns on a case by case basis. Please reach out within 7 days of receiving your order if something isn't right.

The Making Process

Where is Jude's jewelry made? All pieces are handcrafted in Toronto by skilled artisans. The design process is intuitive and unhurried, never forced, always evolving.

How long does it take to make a piece? Each piece is made by hand, which means timelines vary. In-stock pieces ship within 3 to 5 business days. Custom work is discussed individually.

Who is behind Jude? Jude was founded by Judy Carter, a multidisciplinary artist and maker based between Toronto and Muskoka. Trained at OCAD, Judy has spent decades working across jewelry, ceramics, and textiles, shaped by travel, slow craft, and a deep love of the imperfect.
